PROCESS FOR SYNTHESIS OF AMIDOACIDS USING A COBALT CATALYST AND A BIDENTAL PHOSPHINE LIGAND (D#80,605-F) ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process is disclosed for producing novel N-acetyl-aminoacid which comprises reacting a feedstock from the group consisting of simple olefins, acetamide and synthesis gas with a catalyst comprising a cobalt-containing compound promoted by a bidental-phosphine ligand in a solvent at a pressure of 500 psi or greater and a temperature of 50°C or greater. The presence of the ligand increases both reaction rate and cobalt catalyst stability. pg:EX9I/k
