ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An ignitor for igniting gas includes a pair of electrodes which are spaced apart at one end, and a source of electrical power for causing arcing between the free ends of the electrodes in order to ensure a good supply of combustion air to the area of arcing, within a rich gas mixture a venturi is provided within each electrode for drawing air through the hollow electrode. The venturi system includes a central tube for alignment with the hollow electrode, and radially extending tubes for introducing air into the central tube.
