There is described an engine or similar comprising at least one piston having a linear alterna- ting traverse movement, a rocking plate mounted at an angle on a shaft which is rotated inside the casing or motor unit due to the alternating movements of said plate contacting said piston, in which said piston is integral with a rod that end of which opposite to the piston has a block sliding in a slide which is part of the motor unit and the geometrical axis of which coincides with the geo- metrical axis of said rod, said block retaining captive the bushings comprising a housing for a toggle-joint connected by a neck to said rocking plate and extending sidewise relative to said rocking plate. There is further described a rocking plate for such an engine.
