A B S T R A C T Apparatus for folding material webs For the formation of stacks of zig-zag-folded layers of paper- webs a stacking means is provided subsequently to the folder which stacking means has a lifting table. In the stacking area is provided subsequently to the folder a separating means in the form of a rake with leading separating edged which rake is movable into the stack and severs it along a fold. On the separating means a part-stack is formed thereafter which after retracting the separating means and moving-in the lifting table is took over by this table.
