ABSTRACT This invention relates to a hinge fitting for a foldable ladder. Fittings presently known in the art have several disadvantages for which this invention seeks to provide a solution. Some of the problems are the high costs of production, the canting of the locking nuts, the premature wear and failure of the locking device because of the plastic pins employed, and the undepen- dable performance when foreign substances inadvertently penetrate the mechanism. The present invention is of simple, inexpensive construction, and can be manufactured completely of metal, - thus remaining practically free of wear. Not only is the new device unaffected by externally applied foreign substances, but also the locking mechanism remains securely in place even when external force is applied.
