SEPARATION OF INDENE FROM FEEDSTREAMS CONTAINING INDENE IN ADMIXTURE WITH OTHER SUBSTANCES ABSTRACT Indene is separated from petrochemical or synthetic feed mixtures containing indene by an adsorptive separa- tion procedure using an Na- or K-exchanged X- or Y-zeolite and toluene, benzene, fluorobenzene or other halogen- or alkyl-substituted monocyclic aromatic desorbents. Selectivity of the separation is dependent on water con- tent of the zeolite--typically with best results at 1-8% (wt.) of the adsorbent.
