ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The present invention deals with a method for producing 2-phenylethylchlorosilanes. The starting pro- ducts used are hydrogenchlorosilanes and styrene which are reacted with each other within the framework of the addition-reaction known per se. According to the invention, this reaction takes place in the presence of benzothiazole. The amount of benzothiazole used may correspond at least to the amount of platinum catalyst used. The preferred molar ratio of platinum catalyst to benzothiazole used is between 1 : 2 and 1 : 50. The reaction may be carried out with high yields of the 2-isomer, which is practically free from 1-isomer, at temperatures of up to about 90°C. In this connection, an overpressure of up to 6 bars can easily be tolerated without any appreciable drop in yields of the desired end-product.
