- 1 - Abstract: The invention provides a resonance absorption type silencer provided in a motorcompressor for a refrigerator. The silencer comprises a blind cylindrical bore provided in the cylinder block of the compressor. A valve plate at the end of the cylinder has a bore which allows the cooling gas to communicate with the bore. The transverse dimension of the opening is smaller than the diameter of the cylindrical bore. In this way, the silencer is not only effective, but is inexpensive to produce and does not take up any additional space within the motorcompressor.
