ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The invention relates to a cyclohexane-1,3-dione derivative of the formula Image (I) where A is a 4- to 7-membered heterocyclic structure which can contain not more than 4 heteroatoms from the group comprising O, S and N, and/or an oxo or thioxo group, can be unsubstituted or substituted by alkyl, alkoxy or phenyl and can be fused to an aromatic, X is an alkylene chain of not more than 5 carbon atoms or an alkenylene chain of not more than 5 carbon atoms and not more than 2 double bonds, which may or may not contain a sulfur or oxygen atom or a sulfinyl or sulfonyl group and is unsubstituted or substituted by not more than 2 alkyl groups or chlorine, with the proviso that X is not a pure saturated hydrocarbon chain if A is a non-aromatic heterocyclic radical containing not more than one double bond and 1 or 2 heteroatoms selected from the group comprising oxygen, nitrogen and sulfur, R1 is hydrogen, methoxycarbonyl, ethoxycarbonyl, methyl or cyano, R2 is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R3 is alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, alkenyl of 3 to 4 carbon atoms, haloalkenyl of 3 to 4 carbon atoms and 1 to 3 halogen substituents, or propargyl, or a salt thereof. The invention also relates to the processes for obtaining these derivatives and to herbicides containing these derivatives as active ingredients.
