PROCESS FOR PREPARATION N OF ALKYLENEAMINES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Ammonia and/or an alkyleneamine is reacted with an alkanolamine by using a niobium-containing substance as a catalyst to obtain an alkyleneamine having an increased number of alkylene units. The niobium-containing substance has a high activity and a high heat resistance, and is not or only slightly soluble in the water-containing reaction liquid. The produced alkyleneamine is useful as, for example, a wet strength agent, an epoxy-curing agent, an additive to lubricant, and a corrosion inhibitor.
