ABSTRACT In the method of monitoring the consumption of utilities in business premises, the premises are notionally divided into zones 10. Each contains a utility load 110 and metering means 114 to record consumption within the zone 10. Zones are notionally combined into groups. Analysis means 120 are provided to receive consumption data from the zones of a group to calculate total utility consumption within the group and to conduct further analysis on the consumption data. The analysis means 120 also supplies control data to the zones to control utility consumption.
