ADAPTER FOR A PROTECTIVE HELMET Abstract of the disclosure Protective helmets are usually designed so various equipment; such as earmuffs; face shields etc.; can be easily mounted and dismounted. To that end there is a slot at the margin of the helmet; about above each ear of the wearer of the hat. The size of the slots varies somewhat from one manufacturer to another; and to safely retain the fittings carrying the equipment an adapter is provided suitable for holding a small fitting in a bigger slot. The adapter has two tapering end walls; as well as front and rear side walls; extending from opposite ends of the end walls; overlapping each other about midway thereof. The front wall is provided with an opening for receiving a projection of the fitting; which normally presses against an inward wall of the pocket. The end wall is; adjacent to the opening; provided with a ridge; locally increasing the wall thickness.
