18 ABSTRACT: Remote control system comprising a control member comprising a display field and position sensing means which are coupled thereto. A remote control system for the selective control of a plurality of user apparatus. The remote control system comprises a control mender and a control device. The control member comprises a display field and position sensing means which are coupled thereto. Under the control of the control device, control keys are displayed on the display field. The control keys are subdivided into two sets, i.e. a first set comprising control keys for the selection of an apparatus, and a second set which comprises a number of groups, each group comprising the control keys for a given apparatus. The user first selects the apparatus to be controlled. This is done by indicating the control key of the first set which is associated with the selected apparatus. The control device ensures that, after the localizing of the indicated position by the position sensing means, the group of control keys which is associated with the selected apparatus is displayed on the display field.
