ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The edges of the port exits of a poppet valve seat member are each provided with a 30 degree chamfer and a counter-bore im- mediately upstream of the chamfer to significantly reduce exit flow losses. The depth/width ratio of the counter-bore is be- tween about 2:1 and about 3:1.
