T 5708 CAN A B S T R A C T METHOD OF PREVENTING FINES MIGRATION Method of preventing fines migration while producing oil from a well that penetrates an oil-bearing subterranean formation wherein the oil includes both volatile and residual hydrocarbons. An oil-displacing gaseous fluid is injected into the formation from the well at a pressure in excess of formation pressure and at a temperature and in a quantity sufficient to vaporize volatile hydrocarbons, to displace volatile hydrocarbons from the portion of the formation that immediately surrounds the well bore and to move the displaced volatile hydrocarbons deeper into the formation and to bond a residual hydrocarbon phase to the fines of said unconsolidated formation.
