ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for electrolytically coloring aluminum material in which the aluminum material is subjected to an anodic treatment to form an anodic coating thereon, the resultant anodized aluminum is subjected to an AC, DC or AC-DC electrolytic treatment in an electrolytic coloring bath containing a coloring agent comprising at least a nickel salt and a zinc salt, a chelating reagent for nickel ions, a supporting electrolyte and adjusted to above pH 4.5 to produce a colored aluminum material having a desired color ranging from a gray series to black.
