Abstract of the disclosure: A process for reducing the drag of aqueous media in turbulent or pulsating flow, by adding to the aqueous medium a compound of the formula R1-K?A? in which K denotes a group of the formula Image or Image , R2 denotes C1-C3-alkyl, preferably methyl, A denotes an anion of the following formulae Image Hal denotes fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine, R3 denotes C7-C10-alkyl or C7-C10-alkenyl and if A = thiocyanate, R1 denotes C16-C26-alkyl or C16-C26- alkenyl, if A = p-toluenesulfonate, R1 denotes C12-C26- alkyl or C12-C26-alkenyl, and if A has one of the remanning meanings R1 denotes C16-alkyl or C16-alkenyl.
