ABSTRACT A substantially flat lid of thermoplastic material for a liquid pack has an endless line of weakness defining a pouring opening which is disposed inwardly of an outer first plane of the lid. An opening flap portion closes the pouring opening and is mounted to a hinge. A handle is secured to the opening flap portion. The opening flap portion is connected through a collar portion which projects outwardly from the endless line of weakness to a main wall of the lid. A collar is disposed at the periphery of the lid at an inwardly displaced position, for mounting to a side wall of the pack. The line of weakness extends in a second inner plane at a spacing (a) from and parallel to the outer first plane and thus spacing (a) between the two planes is greater than or equal to the height (H) of the collar portion which projects outwardly from the weakening line. This has the advantage that the whole of the outside contour of the lid can be within the outer first plane, so that the pack has good standing and stacking abilities, and occupies less space in transportation.
