ABSTRACT A process for the production of linear low density poly- ethylene (LLDPE) employing slurry polymerization techniques involving polymerizing ethylene and butene-1 in the presence of an inert C4 liquid diluent and using a catalyst system of an organo aluminum compound and a magnesium halide supported litan- ium halide catalyst component. The process is remarkably flex- ible in that it can be operated with a variety of catalysts with- out sacrifice in operational stability.
