ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An exhaust turbine having a generator is provided in the exhaust pipe of an engine. Temperature sensors are provided for sensing exhaust temperature at the inlet and outlet of the exhaust turbine, as well as a speed sensor for sensing the rotational speed of the exhaust turbi? ?e efficiency of the exhaust turbine is computed based on signals from these sensors, and the load on the generator is adjusted so that the exhaust turbine will run at maximum efficiency at all times.
