ABSTRACT A rubber bushing, for example used in supporting internal combustion engines, has an outer tube enclosing an inner tube with a radial spring therebetween and an elastic body which is adhesively engaged with the inner tube and the outer tube, located in an intermediate space between the inner tube and the outer tube, is made of elastic rubber material and includes at least three sections which interconnect the inner tube with the outer tube. At least one of these sections is in at least part of its longitudinal extent and between the inner and outer tube, completely traversed by a gap which extends substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction of the inner and outer tubes. An insert is installed in each of the gaps between the respectively adjacent parts of a section thereby producing a compression pre-stress. Thus, an inadvertent detachment of the sections from the inner or outer tube is substantially prevented and the service life of the rubber bushing is extended. PAT 13698-1
