Abstract of the Discussion A process for the preparation of dihydrolysergic acid esters of the formula Image wherein R is alkyl of up to 3 carbon atoms and the substituent in the 8-position can be in the .alpha.- or .beta.-position, comprising reacting the corresponding acid amide with an alcohol at temperatures of 20° to 55°C for 8 to 50 hours in the presence of an acid or an acidic ion exchange resin at a pH of 0-1.
