Abstract: Fire resistant thermal insulating composite structures, particularly garments, comprised of a mixture of from 50 to 94 percent by weight of in- organic microfibers, particularly glass, and 50 to 6 percent by weight of a heat resistant binding agent. The structures are porous, allowing them to breath. The structures are also flexible and pli- ant and have a Thermal Resistance of at least 25 seconds.
