PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: La présente invention concerne un procédé pour la préparation d'acide trifluoroacétique ou trifluorométhane- sulfonique. Ce procédé consiste dans une première étape mettre en présence CO2 ou SO2, un métal choisi parmi le zinc, l'aluminium, le manganèse, le cadmium, le magnésium, l'étain, le fer, le nickel et le cobalt dans un solvant aprotigue polaire puis dans une deuxième étape, à ajouter du bromure de trifluorométhyle éventuellement en mélange avec le dioxyde de carbone et/ou de soufre sous une pression supérieure à 1 bar.
