A transformant of animal cells (preferably CHO cells) which is produced by transforming animal cells with an expression vector containing a gene encoding natural type active human Factor VIII:C and at least one promoter upstream thereof and optionally further containing at least one enhancer, particularly a transformant of CHO cells with an expression vector containing a gene encoding 740 Arg-1649 Glu Factor VIII: C, and a method for producing recombinant human Factor VIII:C (preferably 740 Arg-1649 Glu Factor VIII:C) by cultivating the transformant as set forth above in a medium, preferably in the presence of a substance selected from von Willebrand factor, albumin, polyethylene glycol, sodium selenite, .epsilon.-aminocaproic acid, PMSF, aprotinin and cyclodextrins.
