Abstract The invention relates to the compound norscopine which is useful as a preliminary product for the preparation of valuable pharmaceutical com- positions (e.g. 6,11-dihydro-dibenzo-[b,e]-thiepine-11-N-alkyl-norscopine ethers with a spasmolytic and bronocholytic effect). This compound may be prepared from norscopolamine by hydrogenolysis with complex hydrides. The reaction is preferably carried out with sodium borohydride with ethanol at ambient temperature.
