Abstract of the Disclosure The present invention relates to a system suitable for mounting, stretching and supporting a filtering material in the form of a sheet or laminate, on a supporting and tightening frame in order to constitute an air filter unit, easily assembled and disassembled to replace the filtering fabric or material when the same becomes damaged or soiled. The filter unit is constituted by two frames which are of substantially the same or slightly different dimensions and with at least one of the vertices thereof being trimmed out in order to thus expedite the assembling of the filter unit, The filtering fabric is arranged on the frame by heat pre- forming and with pressure and steam applied to the edge por- tions thereof, which have been previously bent over the frame or by means of an adhesive material previously applied to the periphery thereof.
