ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A floating device comprising storage holds for storing bulk freight, such as a hopper dredge having bottom valves for discharging the holds. Holds according to the invention can be closed airtight and are provided with means to generate an overpressure within said holds thus benefiting inspection and repair operations. The bottom valves are preferably at a level above the keelline of the device. Movable crane devices may be provided within the hold to handle components, said holds having a hatch opening with cover to allow entrance or removal of parts, which hatch opening can be covered by an inflatable tent attached to the deck for maintaining pressurized air.
