21421-220 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device used to connect two pipe ends, has a connector portion and a sliding coupling that can slide axially on one pipe end and into which the connector portion can be inserted. The sliding coupling overlaps a pipe end outer collar by means of a shoulder that projects inwards. After a protracted period of use, or after use in a heavily contaminated environment, dirt can build up between the collar and the shoulder. In order to permit the removal of such dirt in the simplest possible way, the invention proposes that the shoulder be provided with a passage at at least one location on its periphery. When the sliding coupling and the pipe end are rotated relative to each other dirt that has become packed in this area can be forced out or removed with relative ease.
