ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A process for producing self-crosslinking paint binders, water-soluble on protonation, based on the reaction product of aminoalkylation product carrying blocked isocyan- ate groups, NH-functional compounds, particularly of adducts of primary amines to diepoxy resins:, and formaldehyde is described. The products produced according to the process are particularly suited for the formulation of high quality electrodeposition paints.
