The invention is concerned with a process for removing mer- cury from a non-polar organic medium like a liquid hydrocarbon mix- ture, most preferably a natural gas condensate, by contacting the medium to be treated with a solid adsorbent, preferably an ion- exchange resin, containing active thiol-groups. By this method it is possible to remove mercury from the treated medium in an amount of more than 97%.
