PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: L'invention concerne une composition pour la dispersion d'hydrocarbures dans l'eau, constituée par un mélange d'au moins un agent tensioactif avec un solvant organique ou/et avec de l'eau, caractérisée en ce que ce mélange renferme 20 à 80% en poids de composé tensioactif répondant à la formule Image (1) où R désigne un groupe hydrocarboné pouvant porter des substituants, T un groupe ou chaîne portant au moins un hydroxyle, et n un nombre de 1 à 30, le poids de solvant constitue 0 à 80% du mélange, celui de l'eau étant de 0 à 60%. Cette composition est notamment utile à la dispersion d'hydrocarbures répandus sur des surfaces d'eau, des rochers, des plages, ou présents dans des récipients ayant contenu du pétrole.
