Abstract Dental articles are primed with a liquid layer of acidic, non-hazy silanol priming solution containing substantially fully hydrolyzed organofunctional silanol, water, and volatile alcohol or ketone solvent. The primer contains a sufficiently low amount of silanol and sufficiently high amounts of solvent and acid to have a priming strength in excess of the cohesive strength of dental porcelain after storage of the primer at room temperature for at least 45 days.
