A litter box package adapted especially for use by cats and other household animals which is comprised of a sheet of material folded into an open box-like configuration having side walls and a bottom. The open top configuration is further foldable into a closed box configuration. A liner is provided bonded to the bottom and includes a pad sandwiched between a liquid impermeable base sheet and a top sheet. A container of animal litter particles, which is in the form of a closed bag or box, is packaged within the closed box configuration and is opened to fill the open-top box formed from the sheet of material after such has been opened to the open top configuration.
