ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A slide adjusting device for a press which comprises, a slide adjusting screw which is connected to a connecting rod fixed to the eccentric portion of a crank shaft, a worm wheel which is rotatably provided at the outer periphery of the slide adjusting screw but is held unmovable in the vertical direction in the press crown, to rotate the slide adjusting screw in the rotational direction alone, a motor which is attached to the press crown to drive a worm shaft engaged to the worm wheel, a press slide which is screwed to the outer periphery of the slide adjusting screw at the lower end thereof, a piston which is attached to the slide in a vertically movable manner with its upper portion screwed to the lower end of the slide adjusting screw, an oil pressure chamber which is formed between the bottom of the piston and the slide and a control valve which controls the level of pressure supplied to the oil pressure chamber.
