SA51 ORAL DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEMS ABSTRACT Oral drug delivery systems are provided formed of compositions which include one or more hydrophilic polymers, such as gelatin, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, carrageenan or sodium alginate or mixtures thereof; an ointment base such as mineral oil containing dispersed polyethylene (Plastibase); and pullulan as a disintegrating agent for the composition. Such oral drug delivery compositions may be used to deliver to the oral mucosa active ingredients such as steroids, anti-fungal agents, anti-bacterial agents and the like.
