IMPROVED SYNTHESIS OF ZEOLITE ZSM-22 ABSTRACT Preparation of a new zeolite, designated ZSM-22, is disclosed. The process for zeolite preparation comprises forming a reaction mixture comprising sources of an alkali or alkaline earth metal, alumina, silica, alkane diamine and water, and having the following composition, in terms of mole ratios of oxides: SiO2/A1203 = 20 to ? H20/SiO2 = 10 to 100 OH /SiO2 = 0 to 0.3 M /SiO2 = 0 to 2.0 RN/SiO2 = 0.01 to 2.0 wherein RN is a functional group of a C2 - C12 alkane diamine of the type H2N-(CH2)n-NH2, wherein n = 2 to 10, and M is an alkali or alkaline earth metal, e.g., Na, K, Cs, Li, Ca or Sr and maintaining the reaction mixture under crystallization conditions until crystals of the ZSM-22 zeolite are formed. ZSM-22 has the x-ray diffraction pattern set forth in Table I in the specification.
