Abstract A protective circuit for the induction coil (1) of a magnetically inductive flow meter permits this coil to be disposed in an explosion risk zone. The induction coil (1) is firmly connected to a current receiving circuit (21; 121) which bridges same and has two Miller integrators. In the leads (3, 4) there is a two-part current limiting circuit (7; 107). Depending on the direction of the current, parts of the current receiving circuit and of the current limiting circuit are made inactive by bridging diodes (10, 11, 24, 25; 110, 111, 124, 125).
