L'invention concerne un filtre à couches multiples, dans lequel un milieu filtrant multicouches est formé à l'intérieur d'un tambour (3) horizontal rotatif ou pouvant osciller, et possède une taille de grain unique ou combinée, une pesanteur spécifique, ainsi que des caractéristiques désirables en vue de l'objectif du traitement. Le tambour (3) est nettoyé avec de l'eau brute, entrant en friction avec le milieu filtrant par rotation ou oscillation, de manière que le contaminant puisse être éliminé pour récupérer de manière certaine le milieu filtrant au niveau de chaque couche.
