A set of contiguous and partially overlapping RNA sequences and polypeptides encoded thereby, designated as BS106 and transcribed from breast tissue is described. These sequences are useful for the detecting, diagnosing, staging, monitoring, prognosticating, preventing or treating, or determining the predisposition of an individual to diseases and conditions of the breast such as breast cancer. Also provided are antibodies which specifically bind to BS106-encoded polypeptide or protein, and agonists or inhibitors which prevent action of the tissue-specific BS106 polypeptide, which molecules are useful for the therapeutic treatment of breast diseases, tumors or metastases.
L'invention concerne un ensemble de séquences d'ARN partiellement superposées et adjacentes et des polypeptides codés par celles-ci, appelés BS106 et transcrits à partir d'un tissu mammaire. Ces séquences sont utiles pour déceler, diagnostiquer, niveler, surveiller, pronostiquer, prévenir ou traiter, ou déterminer la prédisposition d'un individu à souffrir de pathologies et maladies mammaires, telles que le cancer du sein. Font aussi l'objet de cette invention des anticorps qui se lient spécifiquement au polypeptide ou à la protéine codé(e) par BS106 et des agonistes ou inhibiteurs qui préviennent l'action du polypeptide du tissu spécifique de BS106, dont les molécules sont utiles pour le traitement de maladies, de tumeurs ou de métastases mammaires.
