A specific cyclooxygenase 2 inhibitor which comprises as the active ingredient 2-(2,6-dichloro-4-hydroxyanilino)-phenylacetic acid represented by formula (1) or its salt, and an anti-inflammatory agent containing the same. The compound inhibits not the cyclooxygenase 1 activity but cyclooxygenase 2 specifically. Thus it scarcely causes any gastrointestinal disorders as the side effect. Further, it is a safe compound having a low toxicity.

L'invention concerne un inhibiteur spécifique de cyclo-oxygénase 2, dont l'élément actif est un acide 2-(2,6-dichloro-4-hydroxyanilino)-phénylacétique représenté par la formule (1) ou bien un sel de cet acide. L'invention concerne également un agent anti-inflammatoire ayant la même composition. Le composé considéré inhibe spécifiquement la cyclo-oxygénase 2, et non pas l'activité de la cyclo-oxygénase 1. Ainsi, son utilisation est rarement accompagnée d'un effet secondaire sous la forme de troubles gastro-intestianux. Il constitue en outre un produit sûr de faible toxicité.
