An outer cover for use with an absorbent article having a layer of nonwoven fibrous material and optionally including a polymeric layer laminated or printed onto the layer of nonwoven fibrous material. The outer cover includes at least one plastic component and at least one elastic component in the nonwoven fibrous material and/or optional polymeric layer. The outer cover can have different structural combinations of spunbond fibers, meltblown fibers, and/or nanofibers. The combination of plastic and elastic components results in an outer cover that has favorable mechanical, physical, and aesthetic properties. The outer cover can be rendered either uniaxially or biaxially stretchable via a mechanical activation process.

L'invention concerne un revêtement extérieur destiné à être utilisé avec un article absorbant, comportant une couche d'un matériau fibreux non tissé et éventuellement une couche polymérique stratifiée ou imprimée sur la couche de matériau fibreux non tissé. Le revêtement extérieur comprend au moins un composant plastique et au moins un composant élastique dans le matériau fibreux non tissé et/ou l'éventuelle couche polymérique. Le revêtement extérieur peut comporter différentes combinaisons structurales de fibres filées-liées, de fibres de fusion-soufflage et/ou de nanofibres. La combinaison de composants plastiques et élastiques résulte en un revêtement extérieur présentant des propriétés mécaniques, physiques et esthétiques favorables. Le revêtement extérieur peut être rendu étirable uniaxialement ou biaxialement par un procédé d'activation mécanique.
