An apparatus and a method for producing pasty paraffin from liquid paraffin comprises the use of an agitator for mixing the paraffin during its solidification within a receptacle. The viscosity of the paraffin is controlled by the monitoring of the power of a motor driving the agitator. More particularly, liquid paraffin is supplied to a solidification apparatus which comprises an agitator driven by a motor and a coolant system for the liquid paraffin. The liquid paraffin is thus gradually solidified by way of the coolant while the liquid paraffin is mixed by the agitator for producing pasty paraffin. The temperature of the coolant is controlled by monitoring the power required from the motor for driving the agitator in such a way so as to obtain pasty paraffin of proper viscosity. Then, the pasty paraffin having proper viscosity for subsequent use in the production of selected articles, such as candles, is extracted from the solidification apparatus.
Appareil et méthode pour produire une paraffine pâteuse à partir de paraffine liquide comprenant l'utilisation d'un agitateur pour le mélange de la paraffine durant sa solidification à l'intérieur d'un contenant. La viscosité de la paraffine est contrôlée par surveillance de la puissance d'un moteur d'entraînement de l'agitateur. Plus particulièrement, la paraffine liquide alimente un appareil de solidification qui comprend un agitateur entraîné par un moteur et un système de refroidissement pour la paraffine liquide. La paraffine liquide est ainsi graduellement solidifiée par l'action du médium de refroidissement pendant que la paraffine liquide est mélangée par l'agitateur pour l'obtention de paraffine pâteuse. La température du médium de refroidissement est contrôlé par surveillance de la puissance requise par le moteur d'entraînement de l'agitateur, de manière que l'on puisse obtenir une paraffine pâteuse de viscosité adéquate. Ensuite, la paraffine pâteuse ayant la bonne viscosité convenant à une utilisation ultérieure pour la production d'articles comme des chandelles est extraite de l'appareil de solidification.
