There is provided a sports equipment rack which has a central post, a plurality of outwardly extending hanger members to receive an article of clothing or piece of sports equipment, and a plurality of outwardly and down-wardly extending V-shaped base members. Each base member has first and second arms, the first being received in an opening in the post above the bottom end thereof and the second being received in an opening above the first arm so that the base members are tensioned to be secured to the post. The first arm provides a bearing point remote to the post and the central post is supported above the ground. There is also provided a kit for the sports equipment rack. The sports equipment rack is easily assembled and more stably supported on the ground.
