A snow disposal system includes a culvert laid out in a loop beneath an area receiving snow to be disposed of, such as the apron area of an airport, the culvert being located beneath local limits of frost penetration. A body of water at least partly fills the culvert, water circulation pumps being provided to cause the body of water to recirculate continuously through the culvert. Preferably, multiple chutes are provided at intervals along the culvert, there being enough water in the culvert to reduce snow from a typical snowfall to a slurry. Water main and storm drain connections may be made to the culvert to permit handling of heavier snowfalls.
