The invention relates to purifying unwanted moderately saline water. The methods of the present invention including passing moderately saline water through an ion exchange media saturated with ammonium salts to produce fertilizer water. In addition, the present invention relates to a method of passing moderately saline water through a dual bed cation and anion exchange process for producing purified water. The first cation exchange media is saturated with acids of hydrochloric, nitric or sulfuric acids. Meanwhile, the second ion exchange media is saturated with ammonium hydroxide. Passing the moderately saline water through the first ion exchange media creates an acid rich water which is then passed through the second ion exchange media to remove chloride, sulfate, nitrate, and nitrite anions. Through a regenerative cycle, a fertilizer water is produced which is rich in ammonium chloride, ammonium nitrate or ammonium sulfate.

L'invention concerne la purification d'eau modérément saline non désirée. Les procédés de l'invention consistent à faire passer l'eau modérément saline dans un moyen à échange d'ions saturé avec des sels d'ammonium pour produire de l'eau fertilisante. La présente invention concerne, de plus, un procédé permettant de soumettre l'eau modérément saline à un double processus d'échange de cations et d'anions afin d'obtenir de l'eau purifiée. Le premier moyen d'échange de cations est saturé avec des acides d'acide hydrochlorique, nitrique ou sulfurique, tandis que le second moyen d'échange d'ions est saturé avec de l'hydroxyde d'ammonium. Le passage de l'eau modérément saline dans le premier moyen d'échange d'ions crée une eau riche en acide qui passe alors dans le second moyen d'échange d'ions pour en éliminer les anions de chlorure, de sulfate, de nitrate et de nitrite. On obtient ainsi, après un cycle de régénération, une eau fertilisante riche en chlorure d'ammonium, en nitrate d'ammonium ou en sulfate d'ammonium.
