A process for the recovery of nickel and cobalt from a nickeliferous oxidic ore by heap leaching, the process including the steps of: a) forming the nickeliferous oxidic ore into one or more heaps; b) leaching the ore heap with a leach solution in a leach step wherein the leach solution includes an acid supplemented hypersaline water as the lixiviant, the hypersaline water having a total dissolved solids concentration greater than 30 g/l; and c) recovering the nickel and cobalt from the resultant heap leachate.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de récupération de nickel et de cobalt à partir d'un minerai oxydique nickélifère par lixiviation en tas, lequel procédé comprend les étapes consistant: a) à disposer le minerai oxydique nickélifère en un ou plusieurs tas; b) à lixivier le ou les tas de minerai à l'aide d'une solution de lixiviation dans une étape de lixiviation dans laquelle la solution de lixiviation comprend une eau hypersaline enrichie en acide comme lixiviant, l'eau hypersaline présentant une teneur totale en solides dissous supérieure à 30 g/l; et c) à récupérer le nickel et le cobalt à partir du tas de lixiviat ainsi obtenu.
