Abstract A device for attachment to the existing door opening handle of the type commonly used on storm doors and consisting of a vertical bar portion and a latch release thumb button located at the top of the bar portion, the device providing assistance to children or disabled persons in opening the door. A base member is provided for attachment of the bar portion of the door opening handle, and a lever member is connected to the base member for pivoting movement about an axis extending transversely of the bar portion. The lever has a handle portion and a head portion projecting over the thumb bottom and being engagable therewith for depressing the thumb button to effect unlatching of the door as the handle portion of the lever member is pulled away from the surface of the door so that a single outward pulling motion on the handle portion accomplished both release of the door and an outward swinging motion of the door to an open position.
