An ion detector for a mass spectrometer is provided wherein a mask (10) is provided between a first microchannel plate (2a) and a second microchannel plate (2b). The mask (10) prevents ion arrival events causing a cloud of secondary electrons to be from the second microchannel plate (2b) which would illuminate two collection anodes (5,6) at substantially the same time. The mask (10) also prevents electron clouds emitted which would otherwise vary significantly in intensity.
L'invention concerne un détecteur d'ions destiné à un spectromètre de masse, un masque (10) étant placé entre une première galette de microcanaux (2a) et une galette de microcanaux (2b). Le masque (10) empêche des événements d'arrivée d'ions de la deuxième galette de microcanaux (2b), ces événements engendrant un nuage d'électrons secondaires, ce qui éclairerait deux anodes de collection (5,6) sensiblement simultanément. Le masque (10) empêche également les nuages électroniques émis dont l'intensité varierait sinon de manière significative.
