A motorized wheel hub assembly includes a sealed motor section having first (68) and second (92) coaxial shafts (72) extending from the motor section, the second shaft being a rotary shaft and a gear reduction section adjacent to the motor section, the gear reduction section including a pinion (122) at the end of the rotary shaft, a plurality of planet gears (114) rotatably mounted to the housing in meshing engagement with the pinion (122) and a third shaft (72) connected to the motor housing, all of the shafts being separate but coaxial. A hub (26) having an interior surface closely surrounds the motor and gear reduction sections and is rotably coupled to the first and third shafts. A ring gear (136) formed in the interior surface of the hub is in meshing engagement with the planet gears so that when the second shaft rotates at a selected speed, the hub rotates relative to the first and third shafts at a lesser speed. Preferably, the hub is partially filled with oil to conduct heat from the motor section to the outside.
L'invention porte sur un ensemble moyeu de roue motorisé comprenant une section moteur hermétiquement fermée dans laquelle s'étendent des premier (68) et deuxième (92) arbres (72) coaxiaux, le deuxième arbre étant rotatif, et une section de réduction d'engrenage adjacente à la section moteur et comprenant un pignon (122) à l'extrémité de l'arbre rotatif, une pluralité de roues planétaires (114) montées rotatives sur le carter en prise avec le pignon (122) et un troisième arbre (72) raccordé au carter du moteur, tous les arbres étant séparés, mais coaxiaux. Un moyeu (26) à surface intérieure entoure hermétiquement les sections moteur et réduction d'engrenage et est couplé rotatif au premier arbre et au troisième. Une couronne (136) de train planétaire formée dans la surface intérieure du moyeu est en prise avec les roues planétaires de sorte que, lorsque le deuxième arbre tourne à une vitesse déterminée, le moyeu tourne par rapport au premier arbre et au troisième à une vitesse inférieure. De préférence, le moyeu est rempli partiellement d'huile de façon à entraîner vers l'extérieur la chaleur provenant de la section moteur.
